Please be advised that COVID-19 cases have increased in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the past several days, compelling authorities to restrict movement to and from various clusters within the city.

These latest government applied restrictions are impeding a large number of dock workers from travelling to their jobs at the Port of Colombo, with some of the terminals advising that up to 70% of dock workers were unable to report to work. Lack of adequate labor has slowed down operations and caused delayed vessel sailing/berthing by as much as 5 days.

Backlogged terminals are giving priority to mainline vessels to clear the queue/congestion, while feeder vessels are left to wait.

Delmar will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure shipments are delivered to their final destination in the most time efficient manner, however, some delays for cargo departing from or transiting the Port of Colombo can be expected due to the above-mentioned situation.

Additional information may be obtained by contacting your local Delmar Representative.
