Port Of Montreal Congestion Surcharge

Dear Valued Customer,

Following last month’s strike, the yard density at the Port of Montreal has reached critical levels and we are seeking your assistance to collect your containers within, or before, the end of your five-day free storage period. This will help reinstate the fluidity at the Port and minimise the impact on your supply chain.

Incidentally, Delmar has no choice but to apply a USD400 emergency congestion surcharge on all containers that terminate in Montreal and that exceed the five-day free period. This charge applies to all cargo discharged on or after September 13th, 2020 and does not affect any contractual agreement relating to free days or demurrage fees.

Delmar reserves the right to pre-pull any container that exceeds the five-day free period to an external off-dock location. All moving charges will be added to the congestion surcharge and reflected in the final invoice.

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation as we continue to work closely with our partners at the Port of Montreal to improve the situation.

For further information, please contact your local Delmar Representative.
