Import ocean containers destined for Canadian inland points that are transiting through the ports of Vancouver and Prince Rupert have been experiencing longer than normal terminal dwell times.
A number of factors are contributing to these delays including; vessel schedule irregularities, slow steaming, vessels unable to berth on schedule, port congestion, cargo volume surges, and ongoing rail car shortages.
In addition, Inter-modal traffic delays combined with lag times in accessing containers for local pick-up in both Vancouver and Prince Rupert are expected to continue, as a result of high ground counts, rail operational disruptions and overall reduced productivity.
Delmar continues to coordinate with carriers, terminals and railway operators to expedite your cargo as quickly as possible.
