Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), through Notice CN20-15, has confirmed a future increase to the estimated value for duty threshold for Low Value Shipments (LVS) transactions entering Canada. Upon the effective date of the pending Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), the threshold for LVS imports will increase to CAD$3,300.
This new LVS threshold will apply to all commercial imports into Canada including express shipments.
References to thresholds in paragraphs 6(1)(a) and (b), 7.1, 7(2.1)(d), paragraphs 8(a), 8.2(d), 10(a) and (b) and section 10.31 of the Accounting for Imported Goods and Payment of Duties Regulations, as well as paragraph 4(c) of the Fees in Respect of Mail Regulations, and subsections 6(4), 9.1(4), 10(4), and 12.1(4) of the Proof of Origin of Imported Goods Regulations are to be amended retroactively to the date of the coming into force of CUSMA to an estimated value for duty not exceeding CAD$3,300.
