The International Longshore Warehouse Union Canada (ILWU) and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) have confirmed that workers are not picketing outside Vancouver’s two largest shipping container terminals on Monday, May 27, during a union strike, as had been previously reported by some media outlets.
All Vancouver ports and terminals remain open. The strike is in the form of targeted job action, such as an overtime ban.
The BCMEA and ILWU Canada are expected to continue talks towards a new working agreement.
