U.S. Increases Section 232 Duties on Steel Products from Turkey

Further to a presidential proclamation, U.S. Customs has confirmed that additional Section 232 duties will apply to imports of certain steel products from Turkey. The Section 232 duty rate for these products will increase from 25% to 50% for all applicable articles entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after 12:01 AM August 13, 2018. Section 232 steel products are found in the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) Chapters 72 or 73.

No announcement has been made regarding a change in the U.S. Section 232 duty for articles of aluminum from Turkey.

Importers and exporters are encouraged to review their applicable transactions to determine the impact and scale of this action on their trade programs. Applicable products falling within the scope of this action should be carefully reviewed prior to any effective dates.
