U.S. Customs Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) Increasing October 1, 2018

Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has announced an upcoming change to the minimum and maximum amounts in cases where Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) is assessed on goods entering the United States.

MPF is a user fee assessed and collected by CBP on applicable import transactions.

MPF will continue to be assessed at a rate of 0.3464% of the entered value on formal entries.

However, effective October 1, 2018, the applicable minimum and maximum amounts payable on formal entries will increase. The MPF rate assessed on informal entries will increase also per the table below.

Current Rate Effective October 1, 2018
Formal Entries $25.76 (min.) to $497.99 (max.) $26.22 (min.) to $508.70 (max.)
Informal Entries $2.00 $2.10
