On July 17th, 2018, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced a comment period and public hearings concerning its third list (‘List 3’) of products identified for additional import tariffs or duties of 10% under its ongoing Section 301 Chinese trade action. List 3 covers over 6,000 Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) classifications and $200 billion of Chinese products imported by the U.S.
Submission of comments are due by August 17, 2018 with a public-hearing scheduled in Washington, D.C. August 20-23, 2018. Any rebuttal (post-hearing) comments will be due for submission by August 30 this year.
No effective date has been published regarding List 3 tariffs. Additional information will be provided as it is made available.
Parties are encouraged to review their previous transactions to determine the impact and scale of this action on their U.S. import program. Applicable Chinese products and their assigned HTS codes, within the scope of this action, should be reviewed carefully prior to any effective date of this action.
