Canada & USA – Transpacific Eastbound GRI & PSS Update

Please be advised that the June 15, 2018 General Rate Increase (GRI), applicable on the Asia & Indian Sub-Continent (ISC) to Canada & USA trade lanes has been cancelled.

Ocean freight carriers have announced their intentions to implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) and/or Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective July 1, 2018, which would be applicable on the Asia & Indian Sub-Continent (ISC) to Canada & USA trade lanes at the following levels.

General Rate Increase (GRI) effective July 1, 2018:
• usd 20.00 per cbm or 500 kg
• usd 900 per 20′ container
• usd 1000 per 40′ container
• usd 1125 per 40′ HC container
• usd 1266 per 45′ container

Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective July 1, 2018:
• usd 12.00 per cbm or 500 kg
• usd 540 per 20′ container
• usd 600 per 40′ container
• usd 675 per 40′ HC container
• usd 760 per 45′ container

In addition to the July 1 GRI and/or PSS applications, carriers will be adjusting their rates to take 3rd quarter Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) increases into account, while some carriers have announced that they will be proceeding with the implementation of an Emergency Bunker Surcharge (EBS) due to the significant increase in fuel prices since the beginning of the year. Proposed surcharge amounts, if applicable, would vary.
