Canada & USA – Transpacific Eastbound GRI & PSS Update

Please be advised that the January 22, 2018 General Rate Increase (GRI), applicable on theAsia & Indian Sub-Continent (ISC) to Canada & USA trade lanes, and announced at levels of usd 1000 per 40′ container, has been mostly mitigated. Updated rates will be published shortly.

Carriers have also advised that the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) has been postponed and will now be effective on February 1, 2018, applicable on the Asia & Indian Sub-Continent (ISC) to Canada & USA trade lanes at the following levels.

Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective February 1, 2018:
• usd 12.00 per cbm or 500 kg
• usd 540 per 20′ container
• usd 600 per 40′ container
• usd 675 per 40′ HC container
• usd 760 per 45′ container

The carriers have also announced an additional GRI that will be effective on February 1, 2018, applicable on the Asia & Indian Sub-Continent (ISC) to Canada & USA trade lanes at the following levels.

General Rate Increase (GRI) effective February 1, 2018:
• usd 20.00 per cbm or 500 kg
• usd 900 per 20′ container
• usd 1000 per 40′ container
• usd 1125 per 40′ HC container
• usd 1266 per 45′ container

It should also be noted that the carriers have indicated their intentions to apply a subsequent GRI effective February 15, 2018. Details on this will follow on our next GRI/PSS update notice.
