It has been reported that the wait time at the CN rail terminal in Montreal is exceeding four to five hours which is subsequently delaying delivery of import containers to cargo owners in the region.
CN advised last week that “due to the July 1st long weekend, chassis availability would be deficient for a few days, and the terminal would be temporarily more congested with containers. Furthermore, the terminal had 5 cranes out of service for at least 48 hours; the cranes have since been repaired and this problem rectified. Since we now have our full crane fleet in service, and because chassis and container terminal volumes have had time to start rebalancing, we expect to have much better turn times.”
Despite assurances from CN that this is a temporary situation and that things are on the road to recovery, we are being told that the situation is not improving.
Delmar will continue to work with all stakeholders involved in the supply chain in order to have mitigating circumstances resolved as soon as possible.
