Further to our June 1st customer notice, we would like to advise that the Port of Chittagong in Bangladesh is continuing to face a shortage of space to store import containers and loose cargo which is impacting feeder vessel berthing and subsequent sailing of export bound cargo.
Discharging cargo from feeders is taking up to 72 hours which is subsequently delaying feeder sailing schedules by 24-48 hours.
Meanwhile road conditions are worsening, routinely taking up to nine hours to move containers from cargo depots to the port. This is mainly due to a Ministry of Road Transport ban on moving cargo between 3 and 7 pm, and any trailer movements three days before and after the Eid festival.
Delmar will continue to monitor the situation and handle ocean freight cargo movements as events allow, however due to continuing port congestion and off schedule feeder vessel sailings, some delays may occur.
Additional information may be obtained by contacting your local Delmar representative.
