Europe Sea Freight Capacity Update

Date: April 7, 2017
Subject: Europe Sea Freight Capacity Update
European shippers held an emergency meeting last week over the current ocean freight capacity crisis with reports indicating delays of up to 8 weeks for eastbound cargo from Europe to Asia, and from 3-5 weeks on westbound cargo from Europe to Canada.

The lack of capacity has been attributed to blank sailings, restructuring of services and ship repositioning before the new carrier alliances were launched in April.

Delmar will continue to monitor the situation and work with all stakeholders in order to process shipments in a timely manner as events allow, however some delays can be expected as a result of the current situation.

Additional information may be obtained by contacting your local Delmar representative.
