U.S. Customs Seeking Valuation Information from Produce Importers

Date: October 27, 2016
Subject: U.S. Customs Seeking Valuation Information from Produce Importers
Delmar International is aware of a number of recent U.S. Custom’s inquiries sent to produce (fruit & vegetable) importers requesting further information on their transactions into the U.S.

Letters have been sent to produce importers asking them to provide this information to U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) in a timely manner. Information requested by CBP includes describing the relationship between the parties, how the commercial transaction is structured, whether the goods are sold on consignment and the value of the goods.

Importers are referred to the CBP’s online tools designed to assist them in determining correct valuation for customs purposes and ensuring compliance.

Delmar International’s U.S. Advisory Services team will assist importers who receive these letters from CBP.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting your Delmar representative.
