Subject: Update on Chittagong Port Container Carrier’s Strike
|A meeting was held yesterday between the Ministry of Transport and various stakeholders, with no final agreement reached.
However a technical advisory committee was formed to review the justification of the demands put forward by the Trailer/Trucker’s Association.
The committee has been mandated to present a report on their findings to the government by Thursday, October 13th, in an effort to finalize a deal with the Association. As a result the strike has been called off until October 13th.
Delmar will continue to monitor the situation, handle and expedite shipments as events allow, however some delays can be expected due to the results of the strike, congestion at the port and until feeder schedules return to normal.
Additional information may be obtained by contacting your local Delmar representative.
