Date: September 23, 2016 Subject: Dockworkers Strike at Santos Port in Brazil |
Dockworkers at the largest port in South America have gone on strike just days after customs officers in the harbor decided to increase the frequency of slowdowns in their campaign for higher wages.
The indefinite strike at Santos began on September 20th when hundreds of stevedores downed tools at three terminals in the port. The ongoing strike has affected normal terminal operations and is currently impacting import and export container traffic. Delmar will continue to monitor the situation and handle ocean freight cargo movements as events allow, however under the current circumstances delays can be expected. Additional information may be obtained by contacting your local Delmar representative. |
